This Saturday, March 11, at 3:00 p.m. we will have a memorial service at Butner Presbyterian Church for Pat Moore. Brian Buttram and I will be leading the service, Joy Grubb will be playing the music, and Vernon Morton will be singing one of Pat’s favorite hymns, “Peace in the Valley.” There will be a reception following the service in the Fellowship Hall. I hope you will be able to join us as we celebrate the life of Pat Moore and the fulfillment of the Easter promise. Following is Pat’s obituary:

Patricia Elizabeth Moore, 71, passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 28th. She was born in Salem, New Jersey on June 8th, 1945 to the late George Harry and Mary Virginia Lyter. Pat grew up in Lemoyne, PA with her sister and two brothers. After high school, she moved to South Florida and became an employee of the VA Hospital working in telecommunications. Eventually she made her way to Granville County, NC where she remained until finally going to be with the Lord.

Pat was a devoted mother and grandmother, an avid lover of animals, and was very dedicated to the church. She was always known for having a smile on her face and was always very giving to others. Pat was a selfless woman and was known to put others before herself. She has many friends whom she met through her many years working at the VA and in her various activities including line-dancing, bowling, volunteer programs such as meals on wheels, and the YMCA.

She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Moore of Lantana, FL; her son Jonathon Moore and wife Sarah of Wilmington, NC; and her second-daughter Shelly Baker of Franklinton, NC. Also surviving is her brother Scott Lyter and his wife Ricki of Lemoyne, PA; her brother Charlie Lyter and his wife Claire of Mechanicsburg, PA; and her sister Mary Magnusson and her husband Magnus of Bellingham, WA. Grandchildren include Jacob Evans, Noah Moore, and Kaylee Baker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Granville County Animal Shelter located at 5650 Cornwall Rd, Oxford, NC 27565.
