WHAT PRESBYTERIANS BELIEVE

Some of the principles articulated by John Calvin remain at the core of Presbyterian beliefs. Among these are the sovereignty of God, the authority of the scripture, justification by grace through faith and the priesthood of all believers. What they mean is that God is the supreme authority throughout the universe. Our knowledge of God and God’s purpose for humanity comes from the Bible, particularly what is revealed in the New Testament through the life of Jesus Christ. Our salvation (justification) through Jesus is God’s generous gift to us and not the result of our own accomplishments. It is everyone’s job – ministers and lay people alike – to share this Good News with the whole world. That is also why the Presbyterian church is governed at all levels by a combination of clergy and laity, men and women alike.

HISTORY OF THE CHURCH

Founded in 1957, our church originally held service in the local National Guard Armory. Over the years, as the town grew so did our church. The current sanctuary was added in the 1960s as membership continued to increase. The congregation has varied in size since then, but changes within the community in the mid-80s led to a significant drop in members. However, we believe that God wants this vibrant congregation to grow and meet the growing needs of the surrounding area.

Thank you for visiting our Web site. We invite anyone interested in learning more about our church to contact us in person, by phone or via e-mail. Let us know who you are and what we can do to assist you. We will respond as soon as we can. We look forward to meeting you and helping in your journey with Christ.
