“In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me.” (Jonah 2:2)
Pastor’s Corner
I don’t know about you, but I have had enough rain. Over the last couple of days, I have developed an all-new appreciation for what Noah went through.
And yes, I know we probably needed the rain. We were below our normal rainfall amount for this time of year, which means it really was a blessing. But it was a blessing I didn’t ask for.
Those are the blessings we often miss, aren’t they? The blessings we didn’t ask for (or want.) When we ask God for blessings, we are probably not sincerely saying, “thy will be done.”
And yet, isn’t every act of God a blessing? Sometimes they are just hard to recognize at the time. We should remind ourselves of what life would be like if we had none of God’s blessings.
It’s really a matter of perspective. Is our glass half empty or half full? We are never empty when we are filled with the blessings of God – those asked for and those not.
I just hope it’s not half full of rain.
