“Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David!” (Mark 11:9b-10)

New Hope Presbytery is having a “Small Church Gathering” on Saturday, May 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Oxford Presbyterian Church. The Presbytery website describes it as “a day of celebrating and deepening the ministry of smaller-membership congregations! Over half of our congregations in New Hope Presbytery are under 100 members, and there is no better way to explore how to work together than to learn together. This first gathering will bring a particular focus on our small churches in Granville, Orange, Person, Vance, and Warren counties. The day includes a keynote presentation, workshops, worship, fellowship, and lunch.”
Workshop topics include things like “Church Websites and Social Media”, “Creative Worship for the Small Church”, “Discerning Your Church’s Future”, and “Where Have Our Children Gone?” The gathering was organized by Rev. Andy James, the new Associate Presbyter for Small Church Ministries and Technology, and the cost is only $12 for the whole event, including lunch. It promises to be an enlightening day and I encourage anyone who is interested to attend. You can register by going to the event website or by calling Andy James at 919-322-0143 x108.
The Butner PC Session voted to move Communion to this Sunday, April 9, since we were not able to have it last week. This is also Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week. I hope you will be able to join us (and perhaps I’ll even tell you why there were rocks in the pews last week …)
